By the way, my friends and I (including another treefetch contributor) just made a brand new organization building Wayland stuff in Rust. We're currently making swhkd, a Rust-based hotkey daemon that aims to work across X11, Wayland and the tty. Our current approach is to use evdev to track the keys pressed.
